FAQ

Uluwatu, answered.

Is your villa in Uluwatu?

Villa Rayana is in Balangan, on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula — about 20 to 30 minutes by car from Uluwatu Temple, and close to the Uluwatu-area beaches of Dreamland, Bingin and Padang Padang. You get the cliffs, surf and sunsets of Uluwatu with a quieter, more residential setting.

Is Balangan a good area to stay in Bali?

Yes, if you are after a quiet beach, surf and clifftop sunsets rather than nightlife. Balangan is low-density and residential, with the cafés and beach clubs of Dreamland, Bingin and Uluwatu a short ride away. There is less within walking distance than in Jimbaran, so a car and driver is useful.

How far is Balangan from the airport?

Roughly 30 to 45 minutes by car from Ngurah Rai International Airport, depending on traffic. A private airport transfer can be arranged.

Is Balangan good for beginner surfers?

Balangan's reef break is best for intermediate and experienced surfers. Beginners usually do better with a lesson on a sandy-bottom beach first.

Can you swim at Balangan Beach?

The beach sits in front of a shallow reef: at low tide the reef is exposed, and at high tide there can be waves and currents. Swim only in calm conditions and check the tide first. For easy, calm-water swimming, Jimbaran Bay is the gentler choice.
